Cougars go to 3-1, Win 62-59

Cardiac kids at it again!

BHA goes to 3-1 on the season, beating St. Anslem's 62 - 59. David Levieddin with 16 points to lead the cougars while Jacob Mellman had 15 and Jonah Pinchot had 10. Joe Eisenstadt and Pinchot each had 5 assists. Avi Warshawsky and Jonah Rifkin gave us great minutes in the 3rd quarter when we needed it most.

Our next game is in a week, when we go to rival JDS for a double header with the Girls' Varsity team on Thursday night.

BHA falls to Covenant Life 51-48 in Double OT

After spotting the Defending PVAC Champions Cov Life an early 11-0 lead, the Cougars mounted a ferocious comeback, only to lose in Double OT.

Jonah Pinchot hit a game tying 3 pointer as time expired to send us into the first OT.

 

 

Jonah Pinchot had 14 points to lead our balanced attack, with David Levieddin adding 13 and Jacob Mellman putting in 11.

The Cougars fall to 2-1, and will try to get back in the win column on Thursday at 7:30 at home vs. St. Anselms.

BHA Improves to 2-0 with 64-63 Win at WIS

Cougars balanced attach is led by David Levieddin's 15 point and 17 rebounds, Jacob Mellman's 11 points and 16 rebounds, and Jonah Pinchot's 12 points and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch.

BHA withstands late rally, beats Burke 45-43 in Season Opener

Cougars never trailed, and are now 1-0.

Tryouts This Sunday

Tryouts for the varsity basketball team will be held this Sunday, October 26th from 6:30 to 8:30 PM. There will only be one tryout, if you cannot make it please contact Coach B as soon as possible.

BHA draws Ida Crown in Round 2 of Sarachek

In a rematch of last year's Tier II semifinal, the Cougars will face the Ida Crown Aces at TABC at 9am Friday.

The winner moves to the Tier II semis on Sunday, the loser plays in the Tier III semis.

Cougars beat Hyman Brand 48-42, Advance to Tier II Qualifier

At the YU Sarachek tournament, we won 48-42. Behind 21 points from Josh Stern, 11 from Jacob Mellman and a great second half from Yosef Frances, BHA overcame a 5 point halftime deficit to win by 6.

We take the floor again on Friday, with time, location and opponent to be determined.

Josh Stern Named to PVAC 2nd Team

Congrats to our captain Josh Stern on being named to the PVAC All Conference 2nd Team.

Josh will be competing in the PVAC All Star game next Tuesday, March 4th at JDS at 7pm.

Cougars Season Ends, Fall at JDS 50-40

We gave it our best, but it wasn't quite enough as we fell to JDS for a 3rd time this year in the PVAC Quarterfinals 50-40.

It was just a three point game at halftime, and our defense was solid all night, but we couldn't solve the Lions defense in the second half.

Playoffs Are Here!

Our Quarterfinal Game vs JDS will be Tuesday night at 6:30 at JDS.

We'll practice Sunday at 7:45.

Game vs WIS cancelled

Due to the impending snowstorm, school is closed on Thursday, so our game as been postponed (essentially cancelled).

No decision yet on how we will honor our seniors, but we will.

Playoff Scenarios - Wednesday, Feb 12

If Sandy Spring loses at JDS tonight, and we are snowed out tomorrow, we will be tied with 5 wins.

Here are the tie-breaker procedures:

If two or more teams are tied for any slot, the relative positions will be determined by head-to-head records among all tied teams. The tie-breakers are as follows: Record against teams seeded ahead of you, coin toss. If teams are still tied for the last tournament seed, then there will be a play in game between those teams, instead of a coin toss.

 

Since we split with SS this season, and we both would have 1 win against teams ahead of us in the standings, we would have to play a play-in game to determine the 8th spot.

If SS beats JDS tonight, and our game is snowed out, we will be out of the playoffs.

So - we have to root for JDS tonight, or for the snow to miss us completely tonight!

We'll post an update once we know more.

Cougars Push for Playoffs, Down Field 70-57

BHA goes to 5-15 (5-14 in PVAC) with the win. We were able to get a measure of revenge on Field, who beat us last week.

Josh Stern had 25 points, Jonah Pinchot 19 and Jacob Mellman 11 as the Cougars try to push our way into the PVAC playoffs.

Cougars Fall at Home to Sandy Spring 63-57

BHA falls to 4-15 (4-14 in PVAC) with the loss.

Josh Stern had 30 points, but it wasn't enough.

We continue our push to make the playoffs when we host Field tomorrow night and try to avenge last week's loss.

BHA falls at Edmund Burke 58-55

Josh Stern had 27, but we weren't able to hold a 4th quarter lead, and lost our 4th in a row, dropping us to 4-14 overall, 4-13 in the PVAC.

Cougars' Comeback Falls Short, Lose to St. Anselm's 76-64

After going down by 25 early, we were able to cut it to 5 in the final minutes before eventually losing by 12. Josh Stern led us with 22 points and Iky Cohen had 14.

Josh Stern had 21 points and David Levieddin had a solid all around game with 12 points and 6 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. We fell to 4-11 in PVAC play and 4-12 overall.

BHA loses War On The Floor 2 to Rival JDS 63-42

We gave it our all, but after cutting the deficit to 7 with 2:30 to go in the 3rd, we couldn't get any closer.

Josh Stern led us with 15 points, while David Levieddin and Jacob Mellman each put in 12.

BHA moved to 4-9 in the PVAC (4-10 overall) with a 76-67 win over Washington Christian Academy.

Practice This Sunday Cancelled

The practice that was scheduled for this Sunday, January 19th, has been cancelled due to mid-terms. Hit the books, and we'll see each other on the court on the 26th!

Cougars Win 2nd in A Row, Winning at SSFS 69-59

After being down 34-27 at the half, we rallied back tonight at PVAC rival Sandy Spring to win 69-59. The Cougars are now 3-7 in the PVAC (3-8 overall).

David Levieddin led us with 26 points and 9 rebounds. Josh Stern had 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Jacob Mellman kicked in 16 points and 7 boards. Jonah Pinchot contributed 7 assists, while Iky Cohen had 7 points and 5 assists.

Cougars Beat Burke 59-42, End 7 Game Skid

We ended our 7 game losing streak, beating Burke 59-42 at home in a PVAC battle. The Cougars are now 2-7 in the PVAC, 2-8 overall on the season.

Josh Stern led us with 24 points and 15 rebounds, while Jacob Mellman added 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Cougars Fall at Home to Grace Brethren 71-68

Berman HA fell to 1-8, losing at home to PVAC rival Grace Brethren 71-68.

 

Josh Stern led our balanced scoring with 14 points and 12 rebounds, as we had 5 players in double figures.

After being tied 35-35 at the half, we fell behind by 10 after the 3rd quarter (62-52). Our defense tightened up in the fourth, only allowing 9 points in the quarter. Jonah Pinchot hit a 3 pointer with :14 seconds to go to cut the deficit to 3, and after GB missed the front end of a 1 and 1, Pinchot got a good look at the basket, but his game tying 3 pointer eventually bounced out.
